"Three orders gone wrong, too many red flags!"
I'm literally wondering how they even stay in business. Within the span of 1 week:

Order #1 was for a Fiat 124 Abarth listed on their site as automatic, but as it shipped I looked closer at the pics & noticed it was in fact a manual shifter.

Order #2 was a BMW Z4, this one they canceled before it even shipped due to having "too many things that needed to be repaired." I guess that 125-point inspection is completely worthless?!

Order #3 for a BMW 230i, was told yesterday it was being transferred and they would call to schedule delivery in about 2 days. This AM I noticed no movement so i followed up & was told the car has no title and can't be shipped to me, but they suggested I can always drive 2.5 hours to Palmdale to pick it up...but it would still have no title wouldn't it?!

With every failure they offered to "help me find another car" but I can handle searching the site just fine on my own, what I needed was ACCURATE information and cars that are confirmed as fit to be sold. So many texts, calls, mistakes, my credit score got dinged by their financing...and still no car.

"Carmax Scam Against Tesla Sellers"
On 1/18/23 went to Carmax to sell my 2021 Long Range AWD to Telsa. Theappraisal listed part of the features used to determine the current value, realized that features like Full Self Driving, $15k add on, was omitted. called, asked why that feature is excluded, the rep conferred with an appraisal manager and she said, "We factory reset your car, those features are tied to your account, they are removed after the reset. said that is wrong and you are lying to people, someone who is less technically inclined will believe that, you are cheating owners out of a proper appraisal, that is a scam! Factory reset clears data, your personal settings etc. asked for a walk-through of how that happens and how then get to take that self driving with me for my next Tesla or otherwise. The next owner inherits all these features, that is a true scam. No answer, was told they would transfer me to a senior manager and was put in a never ending loop of if you need help with X press 1, after a good 10 minute wait to speak to the senior manager. also asked then, does that mean the long range AWD also comes with me? If you factory reset the car with the logic you are trying to convince me of, the car then goes from a long range AWD to a basic standard Tesla, B.S! I specifically bought a Tesla because I work in tech, I am fluent in tech. Carmax is undervaluing Tesla's and lying to owners that the features that you've paid for are actually temporary and wiped out, and then I guess transferred to the next Tesla, meaning the additional 20-30k of features are tied to the person not the car. BS!!!!! the next buyer inherits the features, theyve appraised my car against the standard basic Telsa. It is extremely deceitful; I'm imploring everyone that's had their Tesla's appraised by Carmax review the features they considered, the company is cheating Tesla customers who are not paying attention to their scam. They've been scamming Tesla sellers for a while now. DO NOT TAKE YOUR TESLA TO CARMAX!!!!!

"Horrible experience with carmax near…"
Horrible experience with carmax near denver. Went in with no appointment and the man at the front desk was clearly annoyed. I've bought about 5 cars from carmax in the past in MD and FL. Generally good experiences. But this time....... It was awful. Appts are encouraged but have NEVER been necessary! Also, my credit union wouldn't approve my loan because the car they were selling me was 187% over blue book value. Left and will NEVER be back! Bought a sweet little jeep just down the street from cadmax. Oh, also Carmax offered me an 11.5% loan for GREAT credit! Ultimately got a loan for 4.7%. CROOKS!

"Certainly not the experience I had in the past..."
I am a repeat customer - I bought an Infiniti from them almost 7 years ago and the experience was top-rate. And their warranty was pretty good as well, contrary to the negative reviews. So I naturally turned to them when I needed to buy a truck.
Not finding what I wanted locally, I took advantage of their shipping offer - big (and expensive) mistake on my part. You pay up-front for the shipping - which makes perfect sense - but what doesn't is the amount of time it will take to get that car. I was told to expect 10 business days and since they are open on weekends, I was told "every day is a business day." Um, wrong-o. It's now looking more like 25 "working days" to get a truck from Georgia to New England. And once it's on the carrier, it's out of their hands until it shows up at the receiving dealer. Today (some 6 days later) it's sitting in Maryland, roughly half-way but according to their manifests, another 3 weeks for the rest of the trip.
Worse, they had offered me a very low "cash offer" for my trade-in so I went ahead and sold it locally for roughly 4x that amount thinking I'd be in another car in just a few days.
Now I need to decide can I wait this amount of time (with no guarantee it'll be January 22, the "target date") or forfeit the $600 I've spent and buy something elsewere (and I can guarantee you it won't be CarMax).
Very disappointing - I would not have done this if I knew how things would turn out. Other online car retailers have figured this process out, but CarMax clearly isn't there yet.

"I traded my suv for a suv at Carmax on…"
I traded my suv for a suv at Carmax on Norcross in Atlanta GA. The Suv I purchased had transmission issues. The car almost kill me and my children. I took the car back to Carmax and was told that I must pay them to fix my Suv. This is unfair practice. If you are having issues with Carmax in Atlanta Georgia please contact me. This place has to be stopped from ripping of customers.

"I called roadside assistance at 11:30"
I called roadside assistance at 11:30. The ETA was 12:54 at the latest. It is now 3:06. I’ve been on hold with CarMax half the afternoon. They keep assuring me that help is on the way. I’ve been sitting out in the cold for over three hours now. Skip this company, it happened the last time I needed them too.

"Horrible!!! Do not buy from them"
I was approved for a car from CarMax in January. Did all of my stuff online and over the phone so when I got someone to take me to the CarMax lot 2 hours away it would be a simple"sign and drive." That is what I was told anyway. So I get a ride up there and my "sign and drive" turned into almost 6 hours spent there. After all of the paperwork signing, employment verification, and making my down payment 6 hrs later I finally leave the dealership. The first thing I notice, the cruise control didn't work, the car was supposed to have cruise. But I overlooked it. 30 days later I am trying to figure out how to make my first payment. I was supposed to have gotten a payment book from the finance company and had not. So I call the company that is listed as my leinholder and they do not have any kind of account for me. After several calls to CarMax I finally talk to the manager of the business office in Jackson MS where I got the car and she tells me that my financing fell through because they couldn't verify my employment! And goes on to say I need to bring the car back and she will mail my down payment back to me. I attempted to get them to finance it and they refused. She screamed and cussed me on the phone like she was on Jerry Springer. After all was said and done they repossessed the car while I was at the hospital seeing a neurosurgeon leaving me stranded. Needless to say I am seeking legal action against them for all they put me through. They are a scam artist company only out to take advantage of anyone that is desperate enough to have to deal with them.

"Extremely poor service"
Went in to purchase a vehicle in milwaukee, wi, sales person Drae Harris, did all of the paperwork up to the end. He told us wait abd we ended up waiting for 1.5 hours to find out he left for the day and never came back to give us our keys, we waited soo long that my partner and i ended up having to call in for work because we were both now late for work even though Varmax and Drae told us it would take a few minutes. We sat at his desk looking like idiots wgen the entire team knew he left for the day. No one bothered to ask questions or help us. I will not recommend anyone to purchase from carmax

"Bunch of lazy fuks that work there"
Bunch of lazy fuks that work there. Made me wait 15 minutes to look at my Car and the entire time ALL of the Employees were just chatting it up, no work getting done over there, one of the guys playing solitaire on his computer while a potential Client (Me) was left hanging. I should have known better than to go to a cut rate dealer to sell my Mint Vehicle. I'll stick with the Pros next time. I will never enter your College Dorm atmosphere Building again... Glad i don't need to sell my Vehicle, I fell bad if you really need to get out of your vehicle and you get stuck waiting for these amateurs to get their heads out of their asses. They should really consider a name change maybe Lazymax
Thanks for Nothing Carmax!

"3 wins, 4th not so much. Service has gone downhill"
Have purchased three cars through Carmax and overall great experience. Usually highly recommend. Visited recently for last child’s car and noticed service has gone down and prices have gone up. 4 cars we test drove were dirty, one had a sticky steering wheel. 3 cars were scheduled test drives so it wasn’t like they didn’t know we were coming. First sales person we were assigned seemed really set on selling the car we had the appointment for and didn’t want to be bothered helping us look at anything else. So much so that I had to call to get assistance to have the hold removed just so we could schedule another test drive. Ended up purchasing a car elsewhere for over $5000 less than quoted at CarMax for same year/mileage. CM used to be my go to for used cars but not feeling as good about them post Covid.

"GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE"
We visited the CarMax dealership in Dayton Ohio. I can't stress enough how thankful I am that I didn't buy a car from these people. My fiance and I are both in need of newer cars as I've had mine for about 3 to 4 years and she has had hers about the same amount of time as well. My car is pushing $150,000 miles and hers pushing a little less. Now, bear in mind that we bought our cars from a buy here pay here before we had filed bankruptcy coming up on two years ago.

Since both of our bankruptcies have been discharged we have been able to obtain credit through companies such as Capital One, Upgrade, etc. I have three cards with Capital One which are the Capital One Walmart card, Capital One Menards card, and the Capital One Quicksilver card. I have a revolving account with Dell with about a $3,000 limit and she has a Capital One Menards card, Credit One, and a few store cards. Needless to say we keep small balances on them and are overall utilization low and can boast a perfect payment history on all fronts - vehicles included.

At the dealership we worked with a salesman named Fallon (on 11/20/22) and a trainee that he had with him. Sure he was nice but seemed unenthusiastic not only make one sale but two. That's two cars driven off that lot that day! Prior to arriving at the dealership, my fiance and I both fill out the prequalification form and it was determined that we both pre-qualified with $200 down. The payments are then estimated as your shown cars and you're shown on the website cars that fall within your pre-qualification terms. I knew the payments and APR or estimates only online and so that's why we wanted to go to the dealership and talk to them. So back at the dealership I spoke to Fallon about the car I had my eye on which was a 2018 or 2019 Ford escape. He started going through the dealership Master inventory/financing option listings based on my Pre-Qual. I didn't want to tell him right away that I had to trade in because I didn't even fill out the trade in form when I did my pre-qualification online. You should never tell them you have a trade in until you get the bottom line on your vehicle that you want - just a tip and good advice all the way around. Dealers love for people to focus on the monthly payment and the down payment which causes buyers to lose sight of the overall vehicle price that you're purchasing. Needless to say as I looked at their inventory I was blown away by what my payments were going to be. I was looking at $680 to $750/monthly. This immediately clued me into my APR which was 22% to 25%. My vehicle loan through the buy here pay here, who incidentally I love my loan company, well my new one, because when I filed bankruptcy to buy here pay here a lot sold my loan to another organization called Tribute Financial and I was paying 19% through the buy here pay here company. When tribute bought my loan I asked if I could get a better APR and they knocked me down to 10%. But again, 22% - 25% APR? On top of them trying to get me to do a 6 to 7 year loan. As if adding insult to injury, the biggest red flag of all was when I asked what the best I could do on the price of the car was. I was told by Fallon that he "has no ability to negotiate the price of the car". He also told me that what's on the sticker is the only price they will take. That's absurd.

The fact that they will not work with anybody on negotiating a better price tells me several important things - 1. They do not care about their customer base at all. 2. They are taking advantage of their customers who believe they may not be able to get anything financed at a regular dealership. 3. They recognize that people needing cars is a huge necessity and have figured out a huge way to capitalize off of it. That for me was all I needed to hear. Needless to say I got up left went on to GM's website and filled out a pre-qualification for GM financing and was pre-qualified. I pulled the trigger and submitted an application and was approved at 5% for a BRAND NEW CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. I'm so grateful I did not go with CarMax. My advice - stay far far away from them.
