"Just felt way too expensive for what I was getting"
I went in hoping the numbers would make sense, but the cars I looked at all seemed overpriced for what they were. On top of that, the offer they gave me for my trade-in was a lot lower than I expected, which made the whole deal feel even worse. After comparing it with a few local dealers, it just didn’t feel like good value at all. I don’t mind paying a fair price, but this felt like I’d be spending more and getting less.
"Pricing was clear"
The pricing was laid out clearly enough, and the final total matched what I expected. Any confusion would’ve been avoidable since there weren’t any surprise charges at the end.

I’m particular about a site being easy to use, and this one was frustrating for me. The pages kept freezing or loading really slowly, and filtering through cars felt harder than it should have been. I expected a smoother experience.

"I started the process sometime in..."
I started the process sometime in early March, or maybe it was late February, and the fees didn’t really become clear until late. It felt like the final price kept shifting, and when I reached out to support, the explanation wasn’t very helpful. I just wish everything had been laid out more clearly from the start.

The return policy did help, so I can’t say it wasn’t useful. It just took longer than I expected to get my refund, which was kinda annoying, but it wasn’t no disaster or anything.

"The actual repair turned out okay and..."
The actual repair turned out okay and my car seems to be running fine now. But this is where it got annoying: they told me it would be done by a certain day, and then it ended up taking a few extra days with slow updates along the way. It wasn’t a terrible experience, but it wasn’t great either. Overall, just kind of average.

"Rates were honestly a little better than I figured"
I compared CarMax financing with my bank because I always overthink stuff like this, and I had already been sitting at my kitchen table with my laptop open and coffee getting cold. The rate was actually close, maybe even a bit better than I expected. It definitely wasn’t the lowest rate I found anywhere, but for the car I wanted, it felt fair enough. The whole process was simple too, and nobody made it weird or pushy. I’m taking off one star because I did still see cheaper rates elsewhere, but overall it was a decent experience.

"Booking the appointment was actually easy"
I set up my appointment through carmax.com, it was more straightforward than I expected. I’m usually suspicious of websites that make everything sound “seamless” and “hassle-free,” because that usually means I’m about to click through ten confusing screens, but this was simple. I picked the store, date, and time without much trouble.
The confirmation came through quickly, and they also sent a reminder, which I appreciated because I definitely would’ve forgotten the exact time. Best part was not having to call anyone or sit on hold listening to some overly cheerful company script. Just booked it and moved on with my day.

"Paperwork took way longer than expected"
The car itself was fine, but, uh, the paperwork part at CarMax was more annoying than I expected. I thought it would move quickly since most of my info was already in their system, but I ended up sitting around while different people checked forms and asked me for the same details again.
Nobody was rude or anything, so I don’t want to make it sound worse than it was. It just felt kind of unorganized and slower than it should’ve been. For a place that handles this stuff every day, I expected the process to be a lot smoother.

"Super easy car buying experience"
I stopped by CarMax the staff was great. Everyone I talked to was professional but still easygoing, and nobody made me feel rushed or pressured. They just answered my questions and let me look around at my own pace. Car buying usually stresses me out, like, why is it always such a whole ordeal? But this was actually smooth.

"Clean car overall, just a couple little things"
I picked up my car from CarMax and, overall, it was clean inside and out. The detailing looked good for the most part. I did notice a little dust in the cup holders, but that’s minor and easy enough to wipe out. Common sense, it’s a used car, so I wasn’t expecting it to look like it just rolled off the factory floor.

"Car wasn’t as described"
I bought a car that was listed as being in excellent condition, and from the photos and description online, it seemed like there weren’t any real issues. But when it showed up, the bumper had scratches, one tire was badly worn, and the interior had a strong smoke smell.
The sales guy basically brushed it off and said used cars aren’t going to be perfect. I totally understand that, but this felt avoidable if they had just been honest in the listing and condition report.
I ended up returning the car, but it still cost me time and money between insurance and getting rides around. After that experience, I wouldn’t really trust their condition reports again

I booked a test drive at carmax thinking it would be straightforward, but it ended up being a frustrating experience. The car wasn’t ready when I showed up, and I just sat there waiting for almost 30 minutes with barely anyone checking in or giving me an update.
By the time we finally got in the car, the whole thing felt rushed. The salesperson seemed annoyed, kept the route really short, and didn’t seem interested in answering much. I also noticed a noise from the brakes, but he brushed it off like it wasn’t a big deal.
I left feeling like I had wasted my time and still didn’t know if the car was actually in good shape. Between the waiting, the rushed drive, and the lack of concern, I definitely don’t feel confident going back there...

"Decent Choices, but kinda Limited Nearby"
They had a few decent options, so it wasn’t a bad experience, but the inventory was just okay. i was hoping for a little more variety, especially nearby, so it felt a bit limited overall

"Transfer was quicker than I thought"
The car showed up faster than I expected and everything went smoothly. I had asked support about the timing and they basically said, “It should be on its way soon,” and they were right. No issues at all.

"Offer was okay, but not amazing"
I got my car appraised on carmax.com, and the whole process was simple. The offer came back really fast, which I appreciated, but uh, it was a little lower than I was hoping for.
I get that they have to leave room to resell the car, so I wouldn’t call it unfair or anything. It just felt kind of average to me. It’s worth checking if you want a quick number, but I’d definitely compare it with a few other places too.

"Car’s still running great"
The car still runs great and I haven’t had any issues with the engine at all. I remember noticing this one weird little sticker under the hood the first time I checked it, but other than that, nothing has stood out, just starts up and runs like it should.

"Listing was accurate"
The car was pretty much what I expected from the online listing. The pictures matched it for the most part, and the mileage and features were all correct. There was one small scratch that wasn’t mentioned, but it wasn’t a huge deal. Overall, I felt good about the purchase and didn’t feel misled.

"Not gonna lie, customer service was useless"
Not gonna lie, I was really frustrated with the customer service. I called twice about the issue with my car and got two different answers, which just made things more confusing. It also felt like nobody really cared or bothered to follow up
